The Opportunity:

British Transport Police (BTP) have an exciting opportunity for a CoRE Manager to join the The Coordinated Research and Evaluation (CoRE) unit.

As CoRE Manager, you will lead a specialist team responsible for supporting the Force's intelligence management and research functions. Acting as the Force's subject matter expert in Intelligence Management and as a Dedicated Decision Maker (DDM), you will provide professional oversight of intelligence submissions, ensuring information is assessed, managed and protected in line with legislation, national standards and Force policies.

You will play a key role in ensuring intelligence is managed effectively to support operational policing, protect intelligence sources and reduce organisational risk. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the Force, you will oversee requests for research support, drive continuous improvement in intelligence management practices, and develop a centre of excellence that promotes compliance, data quality and best practice.

Leading a team of CoRE Researchers, you will provide visible leadership, guidance and support, ensuring that all work is delivered to a high professional standard and contributes to informed decision-making across British Transport Police.

What you'll be doing:

Lead and develop a team of CoRE Researchers to deliver a high-quality, compliant and customer-focused intelligence research service aligned to Force priorities.

Oversee the management, assessment and dissemination of intelligence across the Force, ensuring information is evaluated and acted upon proportionately based on threat, risk and harm.

Act as one of the Force leads and subject matter experts for Intelligence Management, promoting high standards of intelligence recording, handling and data quality.

Provide quality assurance, governance and oversight of intelligence processes, ensuring compliance with legislation, national standards and Force policies.

Manage requests for research support and ensure effective intelligence products are delivered to support strategic, tactical and operational decision-making.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and external partners, driving continuous improvement, innovation and best practice within the CoRE function.

Lead on training, guidance and awareness activities to improve the quality of intelligence submissions and organisational understanding of intelligence management requirements.

Provide leadership, direction and motivation to the team, supporting performance, wellbeing and professional development while ensuring workloads are effectively managed.

What you'll bring to the team:

Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience leading, managing and developing teams within an intelligence, research or analytical environment.

Strong knowledge of intelligence management, research methodologies and information governance.

Proven ability to assess, interpret and communicate complex intelligence and data to support strategic decision-making.

Experience providing advice and guidance on intelligence handling, legislation and best practice.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

Ability to drive performance, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and intelligence management standards within a policing or law enforcement setting.

Additional Information:

The role requires strong leadership, sound judgement and a high level of integrity when handling sensitive information.

Successful candidates may be subject to Security vetting clearance, and will be expected to undertake ongoing professional development, including achieving relevant intelligence accreditation where required.
