Job Title: Communications Manager (Marketing and Campaigns)
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: New Scotland Yard, Westminster. You may be expected to work at other Met buildings across London as part of a blended working agreement. There are also some opportunities for remote working when appropriate.
JOB PURPOSE
As the Metropolitan Police Service, our mission is to deliver More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards through our policing of London. Effective communication and engagement is at the heart of our organisation, with the External Marketing and Campaigns Team playing a pivotal role in building trust, preventing crime and recruiting the next generation of officers.
As one of our communications managers, you’ll work on large-scale behaviour change campaigns using paid-for media, partnerships and our own channels as well as on the materials that we use to communicate directly with our internal and external audiences. Passionate about making a difference and using audience insight and data to build innovative campaigns, you’ll put your excellent marketing and communication skills to good use, working alongside frontline officers and staff to help keep people across our city safe.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Planning and delivering multi-channel paid-for marketing campaigns, including creative, partnerships and media
- Using data and evidence to identify target audiences and define communication objectives and build campaign strategies and plans to meet these objectives
- Working with insight and data teams to evaluate the impact of your work
- Working closely with our digital, media and local communication teams to deliver integrated campaigns that link paid-for campaigns to owned and earned channels
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with contracted agencies, hold regular contract meetings where responsible for the contract and / or contribute to contract meetings by providing feedback to the contract owner.
- Managing campaign budgets, providing timely and accurate data on current and projected spend.
About you
We're looking for people with:
- Experience of delivering large-scale creative behaviour change campaigns with significant media budgets, ideally including some experience of recruitment;
- Experience of day to day creative, media planning and buying agency management; and ability to review and scrutinise media plans to ensure they meet campaign, brand safety and budgetary requirements.
- Able to deliver integrated campaigns, understanding how paid-for media fits alongside owned and earned channels
- Highly analytical, able to draw insights from evidence and data and plan audience-focussed campaigns and evaluate their impact
- Exceptional written, verbal and storytelling skills
- Proficient in tailoring content to a range of audiences, including those who are harder to reach
- Experience of developing strong networks and influencing others, with strong stakeholder management skills at different levels of seniority.
- Experience of managing complex and challenging communication topics, with empathy.
- Ability to multi-task, managing multiple and prioritise to ensure delivery.
- Ability to respond with resilience and initiative when priorities shift and to adapt approach to changed requirements.
- Experience of leading others, developing and motivating colleagues
