Communications and Engagement Officer - Police Staff

We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic Communications and Engagement Officer to join our busy and dynamic team here at Nottinghamshire Police - if you’re looking for the next step up in your communications career then this could be the job for you.

You’ll be able to keep your head in complex situations, from dealing with media crises through to delivering hard-hitting press releases aimed at changing behaviours that help to protect the public and to save lives.

Nottinghamshire Police is a forward-thinking, ambitious police force with a focus on delivering a communications strategy that puts people, storytelling and content at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for someone with excellent verbal and written skills and a background in journalism or communications. An understanding of web development, filming and video editing are desirable skills, as well as an understanding of forward planning and communications campaigns and media management.

The scope of the work will include writing press releases and statements, supporting behaviour change campaigns, managing all communications channels and using photography, videography and design and print work to enhance communications.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for positive communications; will be innovative, well-organised and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail. You will be able to demonstrate delivery of impact and tangible change.

We aim to connect with local residents, making sure we enable the force to engage with the people it serves, protecting them from crime through awareness raising campaigns while offering reassurance and confidence in the work that we do. The way we communicate is at the heart of this.
