About the team

The Change Portfolio Office has the exciting yet challenging role of overseeing programmes, projects and change initiatives that make up the City of London Police’s portfolio of change; these vary greatly from organisational design, delivering technological advances to national projects and programmes. We are focused on delivering change to meet the future needs of the business and to achieve the ambitions of our Policing Plan.

Key to the successful delivery of this portfolio is the ability to deploy analytical skills, professionalising the team and driving a culture of continuous improvement across the force.

About the role

Our Business Analysts work in multidisciplinary teams to analyse and formulate proposals which may include analysis of how national initiatives and directives may be implemented in the CoLP and may impact on the work of one or more business areas across the organisation.

They undertake a range of business analysis tasks for both established and new programmes or projects being delivered by City of London Police (CoLP), including internal changes initiated within, and overseen by, the Change Portfolio Office (CPO) in response to CoLP business goals and objectives such as the improvement of services and realisation of efficiencies.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work with a range of customers to identify requirements using appropriate tools and techniques including interviews, document analysis, requirement workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, case studies. Scenarios, business and statistical analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, translating both high level and low-level information into formats that will inform business decisions. Distinguish user requests from the underlying business needs.
  • Interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. Use plain English to translate customer technical and business requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to analyse information needs and functional requirements to deliver documentation that sets out customer requirements for delivering a specific set of outcomes.
  • Develop and evaluate options papers and feasibility studies across a variety of topics. Undertake cost benefit analysis of options and prepare fully costed business cases.

Requirements

  • IIBA foundation qualification or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • A range of business analysis tools and methods
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to deliver workshops, events and talks.

This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring MV/SC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 5 years prior to this application.
