Bleed Kit Project Coordinator Volunteer - Forcewide

Avon and Somerset Police have joined HeartSafe UK and NHS England South West to launch the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership – The aim is to place emergency bleed kits in local communities across the region.

Do you have some spare time each week that you could give to coordinating this project in local communities across Avon and Somerset?

The Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership is a collaborative, region leading initiative delivered by Avon & Somerset Police, HeartSafe, and NHS England South West, with operational support from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT). The programme exists to improve survival outcomes from catastrophic bleeding — one of the most time critical medical emergencies — by placing publicly accessible, NHS approved bleed control kits throughout communities.

Our bleed kits are designed to be instantly accessible in an emergency for any non-trained member of the public to use in the event of someone experiencing a severe bleed injury, potentially helping to preserve a life in the crucial minutes before emergency services arrive on scene.

We now have over 700 bleed kits already installed in communities across Avon and Somerset (as of the end of 2025) and secured further funding to ensure the Constabulary will monitor, maintain and replace any used, damaged, or stolen kits free of charge — the first commitment of its kind in the UK!
