Auditor (Protecting Vulnerable Persons)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focused Audit Officer to support the delivery of the Force Audit Strategy. You will help deliver a planned programme of audits across both manual and computerised systems, ensuring compliance with national standards, Force policies, and relevant legislation. This is a key role in providing high‑quality, customer‑focused support in line with our Staff Charter.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Delivering a structured audit programme across a range of Force systems and creating templates to support a consistent, corporate approach.
  • Conducting compliance audits across the Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit (PVP) to assess adherence to policies, procedures, and investigative standards.
  • Reviewing cases involving vulnerability—particularly Child Protection, Child Exploitation and safeguarding practices—to ensure statutory responsibilities and quality expectations are met.
  • Working closely with system owners and staff to gather evidence, provide audit‑related advice, and respond to audit enquiries.
  • Analysing audit findings to identify trends, highlight areas for improvement, and support the development of meaningful remedial actions.
  • Preparing clear, timely reports for Senior Management and operational leaders, supported by accurate data and evidence.
Why This Role Matters

Your work will play a vital part in ensuring policing standards are upheld, safeguarding practices are effective, and vulnerable individuals receive the protection they need. Through thorough analysis and insight, your audits will help drive improvements, strengthen accountability, and support the continual enhancement of Force performance.
