This role is working in the Strategy & Analysis Directorate, making a real difference by supporting the provision of expert advice on scrutiny management and delivering organisational improvement to our officers and staff.
As part of a small team, this role offers a high degree of autonomy and independent working, acting as a key driver of performance and organisational improvement. Positioned within the strategic centre, this Audit Management Officer position provides the opportunity to work across a broad range of topics and functions, to deliver better performance and improvements to Police Scotland processes, making this a highly engaging and rewarding role.
This position offers excellent flexibility in how and when work is delivered, with a range of working patterns considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating teams to get the right result, demonstrating good initiative to make recommendations and to progress these quickly, identifying the right supporting evidence whilst being organisationally aware to support improvements.
- Providing advice and guidance to prepare business areas for audit and scrutiny by assessing potential risk, reviewing past learning, and identifying future opportunities, making strong links with our Vision and Business Plan.
- Supporting business areas to plan for improvement by giving advice and guidance on actions and ways to measure improvement.
- Putting in place effective ways to manage recommendations and evaluate the strength of responses to demonstrated improved performance and positive outcomes for policing.
- Working with external scrutiny providers (Internal Audit and HMICS), being the single point of contact to promote and build relationships collectively delivering a culture of improvement within policing.
We need you to have:
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, we look at the improvements made and make recommendations on how we can measure the difference – e.g. risk reduction, increased performance, qualitative improvements.
- Relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage business areas where priorities may differ and initiatives may be challenged or not always prioritised.
