In this role you will support ongoing improvements to force performance and HMICFRS preparation through the delivery of quality assurance audits, through the completion of in-depth research and analysis of all current and future areas of Police activity relating to the protection of vulnerable people (PVP).

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out in depth research and analysis of internal SYP systems along with other associated documentation in high risk and sensitive areas of Policing. 
  • Produce, maintain and update an ongoing qualitative audit cycle so to ensure periodic audits are conducted within appropriate timescales, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and legitimacy. 
  • Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans conducive to Force and PVP priorities. 
  • Complete performance audits to support HMICFRS and SYP delivery plans to identify deficiencies, safeguarding and organisational risks. To highlight good practice and ensure compliance with current and existing policy and procedure. 
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports to senior management that reflect audit outcomes, recommendations and document process. Attend and deliver findings to force organisational meeting forums including Force Performance Day and Quarterly Performance Review to support and influence strategic direction.
  • Identify and highlight SYP policy and procedure found to be inaccurate or no longer current. Engage with Force Thematic Leads to ensure amendments are completed.
  • Assist senior management in project development processes including the formulation of delivery plans, auditing processes and review mechanisms.
  • Environmental scan and network to ensure continuous knowledge development around Force policies and procedures, best practice, performance standards and updated relevant legislation and case law. 
  • Assist with the implementation, tracking and auditing of learning identified within the Statutory Safeguarding Review Process.

 

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of operating within a performance management environment, including being involved in the completion of audits and inspections.
  • Previous administrative and computer experience, including the ability to update and interrogate various systems. Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience of undertaking analysis of investigations, procedures and protocols along with previous experience of preparing and producing high quality reports.
  • Experience of maintaining confidentiality and managing issues of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Experience of risk management.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
