About the role 

As Asset & Configuration Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Digital, Data and Technology across Wiltshire Police. You will provide trusted oversight of all technology assets, including hardware, software, SaaS platforms and configuration data, ensuring services are secure, resilient, cost-effective and audit-ready. Working across Service Management, Commercial Management, Finance and Operational teams, alongside Architecture, Security and Delivery functions, you will transform asset and configuration management into a strategic capability that enables informed decision-making, reduces risk, optimises investment, delivers value for money and supports the delivery of innovative digital, data and technology services. 

What you will be doing  

  • Lead the end-to-end management of all DDaT assets, including hardware, software, SaaS platforms, licences and subscriptions throughout their lifecycle. 
  • Establish and maintain a trusted asset and configuration management capability, ensuring CMDB accuracy and effective asset-to-service relationships. 
  • Define and embed asset management standards, policies and controls aligned to organisational and industry best practice. 
  • Drive software licensing compliance, optimisation and audit readiness across suppliers, platforms and services. 
  • Lead asset financial governance, providing insight that supports cost transparency, value for money and informed investment decisions. 
  • Identify and manage asset-related risks, including obsolescence, security exposure, vendor dependency and service resilience. 
  • Deliver trusted management information and dashboards that provide visibility of asset health, compliance, cost and risk. 
  • Drive continual improvement and optimisation across the technology estate, reducing waste, technical debt and unnecessary cost while maximising value. 

About you and your experience  

  • Experience managing technology assets, software licensing, SaaS services or configuration management within a Digital, Data and Technology environment. 
  • A strong understanding of IT Asset Management, configuration management, governance and lifecycle management principles. 
  • Experience using asset, financial and operational data to support decision-making, risk management and continual improvement. 
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with technical teams, suppliers and business stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex information into meaningful insight and recommendations. 
  • A proactive approach to optimisation, compliance, service improvement and value realisation. 
  • A commitment to delivering secure, resilient and user-focused services through effective governance and control. 

Essential Qualifications and Professional Certifications 

  • ITIL 4 Foundation
