Greater Manchester Police is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Armourer to join our Specialist Operations team. This vital role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, management and secure storage of all force firearms, ammunition and associated equipment, ensuring the highest standards of operational readiness, safety and compliance. The successful candidate will manage firearms and related items received through investigations, court proceedings, voluntary surrender and found property, maintaining accurate records and overseeing their secure storage and disposal. As the force's technical expert, you will provide specialist advice on firearms legislation, identification, handling and storage, support criminal investigations, and where required, present expert evidence in court. Working closely with police officers, partner agencies and government organisations, you will play a key role in supporting armed policing capabilities while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and public service.
