The role
Join the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit's Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT) and help tackle serious fraud, money laundering and organised crime across the region. This is a unique opportunity to use analytical skills to support real investigations, identify offenders and victims, uncover criminal networks and provide the evidential products that help bring offenders to justice. Working as part of a specialist proactive team, you will play a vital role in intelligence development, disruption activity and supporting complex investigations from initial referral through to prosecution.
What you’ll do
As an Analyst within the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit's Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT), you will play a key role in supporting investigations into serious fraud, money laundering and organised crime across the North East.
Working alongside investigators, financial investigators and partner agencies, you will transform large and complex datasets into intelligence and evidential opportunities that support operational decision making, disruptions and criminal prosecutions.
You will:
- Analyse large volumes of data, including banking records, telecommunications data, digital downloads and intelligence material, to identify criminal networks, offending patterns and investigative opportunities.
- Support Officers in Charge (OICs) by interpreting complex evidence and identifying links between suspects, victims, money flows and organised crime groups.
- Produce high-quality evidential products for court proceedings, including sequence of events charts, communication analyses, financial network diagrams and investigative summaries.
- Assist in the identification of previously unknown victims, suspects and associates through the examination of large datasets and multiple information sources.
- Develop intelligence packages and analytical products that support proactive enforcement activity, disruption opportunities and asset recovery investigations.
- Work closely with investigators to develop lines of enquiry and provide analytical support to fraud, money laundering and organised crime investigations.
- Identify intelligence gaps, test investigative hypotheses and provide recommendations to support operational decision making.
- Contribute to the PECT objective of disrupting serious organised crime, protecting communities and recovering criminal assets.

What you’ll bring
We're seeking an individual who is naturally inquisitive, enjoys problem solving and can make sense of large amounts of information. You may have experience in intelligence analysis, financial investigation, research, data analysis or evidence review.
Essential requirements:
- Ability to identify meaningful information from complex datasets.
- Present analytical findings clearly and confidently.
- Produce professional reports, charts and evidential products suitable for court and investigative use.
- Work effectively with investigators and partner agencies.
- Think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex investigative challenges.
- Conduct in-depth analysis and research using a wide range of information and data sources.
- Apply analytical tools and techniques to support evidence-based decision making.
- Ensure information is managed appropriately, maintaining data quality, integrity and compliance requirements.
- Plan, collect, integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to meet analytical requirements.
- Use Microsoft Office applications effectively and be willing to learn specialised analytical and information systems.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel throughout the UK when required.

Terms of appointment
This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
