Grade: Herts A5
Salary: £38,754 – £56,808 (dependent on force location and experience)
Market Rate Supplement: Applicable
Reporting to: Category Specialist
The 7 Force Procurement Team is a shared service supporting police forces across the East of England: Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Together, we manage approximately £230m of annual third‑party spend, making us the second-largest police procurement collaboration in the UK (after the Metropolitan Police).
We are now seeking a Procurement Specialist to support the ICT & Corporate Services Category. This is a key role focused on delivering tactical procurements, driving value for money, and ensuring effective contract and supplier relationship management across all seven forces.
About the RoleAs a Procurement Specialist, you will:
- Lead and deliver a range of Tactical Acquisition and Tactical Profit procurements within the ICT & Corporate Services Category.
- Manage strategic contract performance and supplier relationships, ensuring contractual benefits and efficiencies are realised.
- Work closely with senior leaders, operational stakeholders, and contract owners across all 7 Forces to ensure procurement activity reflects organisational priorities.
- Represent 7 Forces at internal and external forums, influencing and collaborating with national bodies such as:
- The Home Office
- Crown Commercial Service
- Police Digital Service
- Blue Light Commercial
- Contribute to national initiatives, providing professional expertise to help shape future commercial approaches.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience operating as a procurement professional within a complex public‑sector environment.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, enabling effective engagement with senior leaders and national partners.
- The ability to manage competing demands while maintaining high professional standards.
- Ideally, CIPS Level 5 qualification, or clear evidence of equivalent experience and technical knowledge.
- The postholder will be employed by 7 Forces Commercial Services, with flexibility to be based at any of the seven forces, meaning the role is open to applicants across the region.
- Applications from internal ‘at risk’ staff will be given priority in the selection process.
- Vetting: Management MV and Security Clearance (SC) will be required and vetting will be undertaking for the successful candidate.
Applicants must meet residency requirements:- 3 years in the UK (for RV)
- 5 years in the UK (for MV)
