An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Learning team at Gloucestershire Constabulary as an IT Trainer. As part of the wider Learning & Development department, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that our workforce has the necessary technical skills to help them reduce crime and keep people safe from harm.
It’s a really exciting time to join us as we continue to invest in technology and new systems in order to enhance the service we provide to the public.
You will work as part of a small team designing and delivering engaging IT systems and technology training to a varied audience. You’ll deliver training in-person and remotely using a variety of different methods. As part of this, you’ll also carry out assessments in line with local and national assessment criteria.
Outside of the classroom, you’ll be responsible for developing user guides and videos so that delegates are well supported beyond the initial training event. As we continue to embark on ambitious new projects, there will be opportunities for you to work with project leads across the Constabulary to identify emerging training needs and devise new material to address them.
The team are based at The Sabrina Centre in Berkeley. The Sabrina Centre was opened in 2020 and offers a modern and comfortable working environment with conferencing facilities, a lecture theatre, three IT training suites and fabulous views of the River Severn.
In order to support a healthy work/life balance, flexi-time is available. Flexi-time allows you to adjust your start and finish times ensuring core hours are covered and that 37 hours are worked each week.
In addition to this, we actively support working from home. You can envisage approximately 2-3 days a week at The Sabrina Centre and the rest at home. If you prefer working in an office environment, you can choose to spend more time at The Sabrina Centre. There will also be occasions where you may be delivering training or supporting colleagues at Headquarters or other buildings across the constabulary estate.
As a key member of the Learning & Development department, we’d like you to have a training qualification. If you don’t currently have one, we would still be interested to hear from you, especially if you have some prior training or coaching experience. The Constabulary will pay for you to complete a Level 4 training qualification and we will provide you with protected learning time within your working hours to help you complete this.
Whilst we’d be delighted if you had some previous experience with police systems, this is not essential. You’ll be joining a fantastic team who will play a key role in upskilling and supporting you as you embark on your new career with the Constabulary.
This role will be Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working in order to support the delivery of training to our Special Constabulary volunteers. Weekend working is shared amongst the team and you’ll be able to take a rest day in lieu on a day of your choice.
