Job Title: 24/7 PNCB Team Leader

Salary: The starting salary is £48,021, which includes allowances totalling £10,511.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a 20% shift disturbance allowance and a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) PNC Bureau is primarily responsible for maintaining, updating and reviewing all information on the Police National Computer (PNC) relevant to the Metropolitan Police district area within set time constraints imposed by national PNC policy and legislation.

The MPS PNC Bureau is also the service lead responsible for a number of national functions which are carried out on behalf of all UK police forces.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Band D Team Leader in the PNC Bureau you will be leading a team of up to 12 Band E staff

Core duties will include:

  • Manage telephone calls or emails with MPS officers and staff on a daily basis
  • Manage telephone calls  and emails to and from all UK forces, and external agencies on a daily basis to deal with quality issues and process optimisation. External agencies include the Public Protection Caseworker Section (PPCS), Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS), Her Majesty’s Courts & Tribunal Service (HMCTS), the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and local authorities.
  • Lead a team in achieving production targets in support of Operational Police Officers
  • Identify areas of risk relating to PNCB and working as part of a wider team, problem solve to mitigate that risk

****Please note this role is dependent on the successful completion and passing of a nationally recognised a PNC Names Enquiry Course and a PNC Names Update Course 

Due to business reasons please be aware there is a tenure period for this role. This will be confirmed at the time of posting, and it is the expectation that normally the staff member will be able to commit to the tenure, as a minimum. Tenure agreements are subject to annual review and may be changed at any time for reasons other than career development, such as considerable investment in training.
