An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Professional Standards Department as an Audit Specialist.
The Audit Specialist will be responsible for managing audit workflows, proactively identifying risks, recording and developing intelligence, and escalating concerns appropriately. The role also involves conducting audits to ensure compliance and integrity across systems and processes. Our aim being to improve standards across BCH and collaborative units and contribute towards improved public confidence in policing.
Staff within the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) are tasked with managing and auditing force systems to detect computer misuse, unauthorised disclosure of information, and other forms of misconduct. These audits support both ACU-led initiatives and respond to internal and external requests from departments across the BCH collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct audits across various open and closed systems, including database interrogation, data extraction, and analysis. Present findings in a clear and comprehensive report format. Where required, produce audit material to an evidential standard and provide support to criminal or other formal proceedings.
Design, implement, test, and evaluate audit strategies aimed at identifying and mitigating workforce-related risks.
Support the enhancement of software coverage within the Anti-Corruption Unit by working collaboratively with system owners, ICT teams, and external suppliers to ensure audit data is accessible and effectively integrated
Develop bespoke audit guidelines and training materials, where required, to ensure consistent system usage across Professional Standards Department (PSD) staff and to enhance understanding of system capabilities.
Represent the Anti-Corruption Unit at regional and national forums concerning audit software and systems
Working Arrangements
Agile working arrangements are supported within this role; however, regular attendance at the office is required when operationally necessary or upon request.
Flexible working will be considered but would need to be agreed and balanced against departmental needs, therefore any flexible working request would be subject to line management review and approval.
