North Yorkshire Police is looking for a dedicated Crime Recording and Occurrence Management Officer (CROMU Officer) to join our team. This crucial role supports the accurate recording and management of crime and non-crime incidents, ensuring compliance with national standards and helping deliver justice for victims.
We are also looking to build a holding list for future positions should they arise in the next 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing reports and making crime recording decisions in line with National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS).
- Creating, updating and finalising records for crime, non‑crime occurrences, domestic incidents, road traffic collisions and missing persons.
- Using the THRIVE+ framework to assess risk, reopen cases where required and ensure appropriate safeguarding.
- Providing advice and support to internal colleagues on crime recording and incident management.
- Ensuring all information is recorded accurately and meets data quality standards, including compliance with MOPI.
- Managing tasks and inboxes related to CROMU activity, signposting queries to other departments where necessary.
- Using force systems and geographic information tools to ensure information is accurate and complete.
- Supporting new colleagues through mentoring where required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other IT systems.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team under pressure.
- High level of attention to detail, with experience in prioritizing and managing workloads.
- Ability to make critical decisions based on business needs.
