British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain. We are the ‘Guardians of the Railway,’ putting passenger safety at the heart of what we do. Our values are simply: We Care, We Do the Right Thing, We Strive to Be Better Every Day, We Are One BTP, and We Are Proud to Protect. Join us and help create an environment where we can all be our best every day.

The Opportunity:

British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting an Estates Workspace Manager to join our Estates department.

In this role, you’ll turn strategic workplace plans into practical solutions—managing space planning, occupancy data, inclusive design standards, furniture lifecycle activity and low‑disruption moves.

You’ll act as the key link between Estates, Technology, Health & Safety, Security and suppliers, ensuring workspace changes are well‑coordinated, compliant and aligned to policing needs. You will also oversee CAD and CAFM accuracy, ensuring BTP maintains reliable, audit‑ready workplace information.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, cost‑effective work environments that support our people and the wider Estates Improvement Programme.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing workspace planning across BTP sites, producing occupancy plans, team layouts and data‑driven recommendations to improve utilisation and wellbeing.
  • Leading and coordinating workspace moves, relocations and small refurbishments, ensuring smooth delivery, minimal disruption and alignment with Technology, H&S and Security.
  • Maintaining BTP’s workplace standards, furniture catalogues and ergonomic requirements, overseeing orders, installations and asset records.
  • Ensuring workspace designs and changes meet all compliance requirements, including H&S, fire safety, accessibility and audit readiness.
  • Overseeing CAD and estates data accuracy, ensuring drawings, layouts and CAFM systems remain fully aligned and up to date.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for senior stakeholders, translating operational needs into clear workspace plans and coordinating with external partners where required.
  • Preparing business cases and reporting on occupancy, utilisation and cost metrics to support estates decision‑making.
  • Driving continuous improvement through standardisation, sustainable design choices, and data‑led innovation.
  • Supporting Estates Project Managers to scope and deliver minor workplace works to time, budget and design standards.
  • What you'll bring to the team:

  • A Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience in workplace/facilities management, space planning, architecture, design or information systems.
  • Practical experience in workspace planning, move management and furniture lifecycle delivery within a complex, multi‑site environment.
  • Experience overseeing CAD workflows, estates data accuracy and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, organisational and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to influence across internal and external audiences.
  • Competence in AutoCAD (oversight), CAFM systems, Excel and data‑visualisation tools.
  • Knowledge of workplace regulations and standards, including H&S, fire safety and accessibility, plus awareness of RIBA stages and estates governance frameworks.
  • Understanding of information governance and secure handling of estates data.
  • Professional memberships (IWFM/BIFM, CIAT, RICS) or project‑management certification (APM) are desirable but not essential.
  • Additional Information:

BTP is a national Force and the role will require travel as needed.

Further information about this vacancy can be found in the attached job description.
