- THR1 - Police Control Room Operator - Rota A (37 Hours per week)

Lancashire Constabulary would like to offer you the exciting opportunity to become a crucial part of their busy Contact Management Team, based at Police Headquarters, Hutton as a Full-time Police Control Room Operator.

If you are a dynamic, customer focused individual with excellent communication skills then this role will give you the opportunity to provide an essential service to the public, by taking and dealing with both emergency and non-emergency calls.

Salary:

Rota A - Basic rate = £24,747 – £32,613 / Once working full shifts and weekends = £33,291.30 - £43,873.17

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANNUAL LEAVE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD.  The training period will run from Monday 24th August 2026 – Friday 16th October 2026.  This is subject to change dependent on the number of candidates for training.

During the 8 weeks of training you will work Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (37 hours per week). Once training has been completed, you will then start your Rota.

Police Control Room Operators will be required to work weekends, Bank Holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

If you are successful at shortlisting, you will be invited to our selection day that are taking place on either Friday 10th April 2026 or Monday 13th April 2026.  Please ensure you are available for both these dates, if you are unable to attend the selection day your application will be withdrawn. The selection day will take place at our Hutton HQ site and will run from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Your assessment will last 1.5 hours, where you will undertake a typing exercise, Intermediate computer exercise and role play exercises. Further details will be available for those candidates invited to attend following shortlisting.

If successful at Selection Day, you will be invited to attend an interview at a later day, scheduled for Thursday 16th April 2026  & Friday 17th April 2026, please ensure you are available for both these dates as slots will be limited and on a first come first serve basis. 

There are a set number of vacancies for this intake. If you are successful at interview but are not within the top scoring range for this intake, you will be placed on a reserve list for future intakes, currently set for 2027 / 2028.

Skills and Experience:

You must have intermediate IT Skills and familiarity with windows systems, along with the ability to type / word process 20+ words per minute.

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment Vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying.  You will also be subject to a medical assessment and reference checks.
