As our Data and Information Assurance Manager (Information Security Officer), you will be at the forefront of defending the organisation against evolving threats, ensuring the integrity of critical policing data, and shaping the strategic direction of information security across the force.

Your leadership will ensure that this information remains secure, accurate and available, enabling officers and staff to serve the public with confidence.

You’ll be the force’s subject matter expert, a trusted advisor to senior leaders, and a key figure in national policing networks. Your work will directly influence how we manage risk, respond to incidents, and maintain compliance with legislation and national standards.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a high performing specialist Information Assurance & Security team, working closely with other Information and Data professionals and alongside Cyber and IT security teams, to protect critical assets and support the safe, lawful and ethical exploitation of data assets for public good,
• Drive force wide information security and risk management strategy,
• Build and maintain the organisational Information Assurance and Security frameworks, ensuring compliance with legislation, national standards and accreditation requirements,
• Advise senior leaders including Senior Information Risk Owner and Information Asset Owners,
• Oversee incident response and breach management, system and data processing risk assessment and mitigation, physical security, and third-party assurance, building in learning, improvement and resilience
• Represent WYP at regional and national forums, building strong networks and partnerships across policing and other agencies.
What You’ll Bring
• Expert knowledge of information security legislation, standards and best practice
• Degree/qualification in Information Assurance/Security or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in risk management, strategy and policy development and implementation, and senior level reporting
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Project management experience (desirable)
