Applications are now invited from Chief Superintendents, or substantive Superintendents seeking promotion, for a key leadership role within North Yorkshire Police. 

 We are seeking innovative, operationally credible and values-led senior leaders with a demonstrable track record of improving services to the public and victims, driving organisational performance, and successfully delivering strategic outcomes. Candidates must bring significant investigative experience, alongside the ability to lead complex portfolios with clarity, confidence and strategic insight.

As the Detective Chief Superintendent for Crime and Operational Support, you will be an accomplished senior leader who has operated across multiple commands at Superintendent rank. You will be emotionally intelligent, inclusive in your leadership approach, and able to inspire confidence, drive high standards, and act as a catalyst for meaningful organisational improvement. You will exemplify the values and behaviours expected of the police service and serve as a visible role model for professionalism and integrity.

The post holder will be the organisational thematic lead for Investigation Standards, providing strategic leadership, assurance and governance across investigative quality and compliance.

In addition, you will hold direct management and oversight of the following strategic functions:

  • Major Crime
  • Serious and Organised Crime
  • Operational Support
  • Covert Services and Intelligence
  • Criminal Justice

You will be supported to attain a PIP 3 accreditation if you do not currently hold the National Standard for Senior Investigating Officers.

The post holder will also be required to undertake the Force Gold Rota. Training and development will be provided to become an accredited Strategic Firearms Commander and a Gold Public Order Public Safety (POPS) Commander, if not yet held. In addition, there will be a requirement to complete Multi-agency gold incident command (MAGIC) training, if not yet attained.
