 About the Opportunity

Staffordshire Police is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Document Reader to join our Major Incident Room within the Major and Organised Crime Department. This is a critical role supporting serious and complex investigations that have significant impact on victims, communities, and the organisation.

As a Document Reader, you will play a key part in the investigative process—reviewing, assessing, and summarising material, identifying further lines of enquiry, and ensuring information is accurately referenced to support case building and disclosure. You will work closely with Senior Investigating Officers and the wider Major Incident Room team to maintain high standards of accuracy, integrity, and investigative effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and summarise incoming material to identify further enquiries and required actions.
  • Maintain investigative logs, support disclosure, and manage sensitive material appropriately.
  • Prioritise workloads and ensure material is processed in accordance with policy and investigation needs.
  • Support peers once qualified and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
  • Attend briefings and maintain awareness of investigation progress.

About You

We are looking for a proven investigator with:

  • Strong analytical and research skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working under pressure and managing workloads to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team.

Additional Information

  • Own transport required for travel across locations when necessary.
  • Post‑entry training (including HOLMES) will be provided.
