THE FOLLOWING VACANCY HAS BEEN ADVERTISED EXTERNALLY AND TO THE FOUR REGIONAL FORCES SUBJECT TO WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROTOCOLS

CCTV Officer
Based at Beverley but could involve travelling in and around Humberside as part of the role
One full-time permanent post

Regional Scientific Support forms part of West Yorkshire Police, serving the Yorkshire and Humber police forces.

We are looking to appoint a CCTV Officer to join Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) and become part of our operational team based at Sensor House, Beverley. The post operates on a flexi scheme, working Monday to Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to join us in the CCTV section, where your main tasks will include the delivery of a comprehensive CCTV service to investigative officers and teams from across the region. This is an opportunity for individuals to develop their career within a continually evolving and technically advancing field. You will need to be confident, capable of learning quickly, have good communication skills and work well effectively as part of a small, dedicated team.

In this role, you will undertake technical processes relating to the forensic retrieval, analysis and enhancement of CCTV images and other evidential material. You will also act as a point of escalation, providing specialist support, advice and technical assistance to meet the investigative needs of all four forces within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

This will include attending crime scenes and other locations to facilitate the forensic recovery of CCTV media, ensuring all retrieval activities are conducted in an evidentially secure manner and in accordance with local, national and Home Office guidelines.

Suitable candidates will ideally hold a relevant degree or possess experience in a related field, together with practical experience of working with digital media and digital video systems. You will also have a strong understanding of computer hardware to component level and working knowledge of common operating systems, including MS Windows.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be willing to work at height and in confined spaces, and have the physical and emotional resilience to manage exposure to potentially distressing images and scenes. The ability to work independently for periods of time is also essential.

You must also successfully complete a manual lifting and handling course and be prepared to travel for business purposes; possession of a full current UK driving license is therefore essential.

The CCTV section is working towards ISO 17025 accreditation, and as a CCTV Officer you will be expected to work in line with these standards and contribute to their ongoing maintenance and development.

Please refer to the role profile for the post before completing and provide evidence in support of your application focusing on how you meet the requirements of the post from your past experience.

The vacancy will close at 23:55 hours on the 26th March 2026.
