A vacancy has arisen for an Operations Performance Analyst working within the Operations Tasking, Performance and ANPR department. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Operations Intelligence & Tasking Department, leading on research for Safer Travel.
Safer Travel is committed to creating a Safer Transport Network in the West Midlands. Together, West Midlands Police, British Transport Police and Transport for West Midlands make up the Safer Travel Partnership and work to identify areas of the network vulnerable to crime, anti-social and nuisance behaviour. The team is intelligence led, drawn from a number of sources such as the officers, transport operators and reports from the public. The team also have access to over 1400 CCTV cameras, which are staffed 24/7 to identify and respond to incidents which are located in Bus, Rail and Metro stations. The team focus on intelligence led operations, with the aim of preventing and reducing crime on the bus/train/tram network.
As part of the Operations Tasking, Performance and ANPR Team the role also involves providing accountability and scrutiny to Operations Senior Leadership Team by researching and evaluating the Operations departments activity and outcomes and providing detailed research for the Operations monthly Performance Meeting as well as to the Force Performance Meeting.
You will join a team of analysts and researchers and become competent in the use of Business Insights, working together to provide analysis for WMP Operations. This is a permanent contract and the successful candidate will be located at Roads Policing HQ, Thornbridge Avenue, Perry Barr, Birmingham, B42 2AG. There will be a requirement to travel to the Safer Travel Partnership based at the Safer Travel Command Centre, Centro House, Summer Lane, Birmingham and WMP Operations, C3, Park Lane, Aston B6 5DD on an ad hoc basis. The hours of this role are between 0800 and 1800 as per the police staff flexi time policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analysis for a performance framework and outcomes for Operations to ensure accountability and scrutiny including Investigation data
- Support Safer Travel officers and colleagues by developing the strategic and tactical assessment and problem / subject profiles
- Provide a performance framework and outcomes for Operations to ensure accountability and scrutiny. This covers performance reporting on all Operations teams, including: Firearms, Drones, Dogs, OSU, Roads Policing, Safer Travel and more
- Monthly reporting to the Operations Performance meeting and to the Safer Travel performance meeting
- Use ANPR tools such as convoy analysis to identify people and vehicles of interest to the police
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and documentation for Force Operations
- To produce reports on analytical findings in a coherent form, including the use of graphs and statistics
- Update and maintain external and internal website pages with new items of interest
- To comply with the National Decision Making Model , Management of Police Information (MOPI), Data Quality Principles, Data Protection and Intelligence Service policies and procedures
- Any other tasks commensurate with the role

• The candidate must be willing to be MV Vetted and pass this process prior to joining the department
Desirable:
• Previous analytical experience. Having attained a basic analyst practitioner qualification from a law enforcement agency.
• Be able to use the following West Midlands police systems – Business Insights / ANPR (NAS) / Command & Control (Control Works) / Insight / Police National Computer (PNC)
Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
