Main Purpose of Role
A number of vacancies have arisen for the role of Custody Detention Officer.
The purpose of the role is the security, guarding, monitoring and welfare of detainees within police custody suites this includes control and restrain and the searching of cells.
The reception, booking in, risk assessment and release of detainees under the direction and supervision of the Custody Sergeant,
To provide associated administration and clerical support to ensure all documents and records are completed and maintained accurately and in accordance with force policy.
To carry out the procedures of fingerprinting, image capture, DNA and drug testing of detainees.
To ensure that the Custody Suite is clean and tidy at all times, undertaking stock checks and replenishing items when required.
To attend training days including IT, first aid and Officer safety training.
Key Skills & Experience
It is a requirement to have a Full UK driving licence, with business insurance
We require you to have a good understanding of spelling and grammar as well as attention to detail as you will be recording daily interaction with Detainees and completing forms.
Successful applicants must be capable of dealing with vulnerable, difficult and sometimes violent people, able to interrogate and accurately input data on computer systems, to work under pressure and be able to communicate in a professional manner to the public, detainees, police and partnership agencies.
We provide an excellent training course to support this role which must be passed prior to commencing in post.
