ERSOU Counter Terrorism Policing works closely with a range of partner agencies, undertaking both proactive and reactive operational activity to gather intelligence, mitigate risk, and disrupt terrorist activity. Our officers employ some of the most sensitive covert tactics and specialist methodologies available to UK law enforcement.
The threat from International Terrorism remains the most significant risk to national security and public safety. As part of the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Policing Network, ERSOU plays a central role in this mission. Investigations teams work alongside numerous specialist capabilities, contributing directly to the identification, targeting, and prosecution of individuals who pose a threat to the UK.
We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and committed officer capable of thriving in a fast‑paced, highly sensitive operational environment. Candidates must be flexible, able to work using initiative or as part of a team, and willing to support critical live operations, often at short notice and outside routine hours. In return, the successful applicant will experience some of the most unique and rewarding investigative work available in policing, with exposure to nationally significant operations across the country.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and professionalism, operating in line with the Code of Ethics and national security requirements.
Applications are welcome from Substantive Detective Inspectors, or Temporary Detective Inspectors seeking continued deployment at this rank.
Officers should ideally hold SC Enhanced Vetting and be prepared to undertake Developed Vetting (DV). Experience with covert policing tactics and intelligence development is preferable, but not essential.
