Applications are sought for substantive Special Constables for new exciting roles within the Manchester Airport Policing Team, of the X-Specialist Operations Branch. There is 5 posts available based at Manchester Airport.
You will volunteer at the front-line of policing at Manchester Airport, working alongside colleagues in the Manchester Airport Policing Team, the Airport community (passengers, businesses, etc) and Manchester Airport Group colleagues, providing an additional visible policing presence, promoting law and order, reducing the fear of crime, providing reassurance and building confidence.
You will be making autonomous decisions in accordance with the National Decision Model and Code of Ethics, and exercising professional discretion, as appropriate to the role, in line with legal frameworks and policy guidelines.
Specials are required to meet and maintain the highest professional standards required of their role, by conducting all actions in a legal, balanced, proportionate and justifiable manner to uphold the law and achieve the best outcomes in a wide range of situations/incidents.
As a Special Constable at Manchester Airport, the roles and responsibilities will follow the Special Constable Role Profile (as attached).
Additional skills and knowledge will be provided as part of the role. Training will be provided in the areas of:
> aviation specific legislation
> airport contingency plan procedures
> principles, observation/engagement skills etc associated with Servator

The closing date for applications is Sunday 29th March 2026 (at 2359 hrs) and successfully shortlisted applicants will ideally need to be available for interview week commencing 13th April 2026.
The interview will consist of a number of competency based interview questions.

To be eligible to apply you will be expected to:
> Have achieved substantive (Independent Patrol) Special Constable status (ie fully completed and signed off SC PDP),
> Have completed the minimum requested hours in the last 12 month period from 01/03/25-28/02/26 (ie 16hrs per mth, therefore 192hrs in 12mths),
> Be current in Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST)
> Be current in First Aid Training
> Have full support of your Special Supervisor and Regular Supervisor (this will be requested via a transfer form).
Notes:
> The role of Special Sergeant X Specialist Operations Branch, Manchester Airport Policing Team will be subject to a full evaluation at 12-months to assess the overall contribution and value beyond the first year
> This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore attract an enhanced level of vetting
> Additionally, the role will require Aviation Vetting (conducted by Manchester Airport Group Vetting Unit)
