The Role and Key Responsibilities

Are you a professional, motivated officer who values intelligence-led policing and wants to make a meaningful impact on community safety?

We are offering an exciting opportunity for Police Constables to join the Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU). The role is ideal for officers who enjoy proactive work, problem-solving, collaboration, and using specialist tactics to disrupt serious and organised crime.

“The Specialist Enforcement Unit’s mission is to proactively disrupt serious and organised crime across Sussex through intelligence-led, high-impact enforcement activity. We operate in alignment with the Sussex Police Control Strategy, targeting high-harm offenders and criminal networks - particularly those exploiting the road network to facilitate criminality. By delivering specialist policing interventions, we aim to reduce harm, enhance public safety, and support the force’s strategic priorities of protecting our communities, catching criminals, and delivering an outstanding service.”

Our commitment is to:
• Be visible and responsive in tackling the crimes that matter most to our communities
• Bring offenders to justice by relentlessly pursuing those who cause the most harm
• Work with partners at a local, regional and national level to maximise disruption opportunities
• Fight crime through proactive disruption and targeted enforcement

Remit:
• Tackle high harm threats and organised crime that use the road network to facilitate their offending;
• Deliver upstreaming opportunities by targeting the lower tiers of criminal networks to identify, disrupt and dismantle higher levels;
• Provide force‑wide resilience by filling identified capability gaps;
• Support the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee by acting on community intelligence and addressing public priorities;
• Support investigative teams to secure evidence and suspects in a timely manner, ensuring a positive criminal justice outcome is achieved;
• Maintain a commitment to fairness and proportionality, actively working to understand and address any disproportionality in our use of powers

About the Unit The SEU undertakes targeted disruption and enforcement operations across Sussex, focusing on serious, organised and violent crime. Our work is driven by intelligence from across the force and partner agencies. The team uses a blend of specialist skills, technologies and tactics to safeguard communities and make Sussex a hostile environment for criminality. Officers may work across force boundaries where operationally required.
