Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 allowance.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Complex Investigation and Exploitation – Vulnerability and Partnership Team (VPTwithin Specialist Crime of the Metropolitan Police.

We are looking for VPT training supervisors to supervise and develop a team of Band E Police staff within the Vulnerability Partnership & Training Team, ensuring consistent delivery of Partnership liaison, Training and intelligence development outcomes. Also focusing on supporting Safeguarding of victims of Modern Slavery. The successful candidate will coordinate partnership activity, training delivery and quality assurance of National Referral Mechanism (NRM) reports to support modern slavery, human trafficking, organised immigration crime and child exploitation/ child sexual exploitation investigations.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and develop Band E team members, allocating tasks, monitoring performance and providing feedback to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Coordinate quality assurance of NRMs received from the Single Competent Authority, conducting risk assessments and escalating to relevant investigation teams to ensure safeguarding actions are taken.
  • Establish and maintain professional partnerships with national and international stakeholders (e.g. National Crime Agency, Foreign Law Enforcement Community, Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, NGOs, banking sector) to share intelligence and disrupt organised crime groups.
  • Deliver training packages, including the Modern Slavery Investigator’s Course and Hydra package, to officers, partners and agencies, to enhance knowledge and capability in tackling modern slavery and human trafficking.
  • Review and record disruption activity on APMIS to ensure compliance with Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Modern Slavery strategies.
  • Manage and oversee Slavery Trafficking Orders (STOs), coordinating reviews and proactive actions (e.g. prison liaison cell searches) to prevent further offending.
  • Maintain specialist systems (e.g. Traffic Jam facial recognition software) to identify and safeguard potential victims advertised online, ensuring intelligence is escalated appropriately.
  • Coordinate and support days of action (e.g. at airports) to identify victims, gather intelligence and enable financial disruption activities. 

Who we're looking for:  

  • Knowledge of Modern Slavery Act 2015, Immigration Act 1971 (s.25), Sexual Offences Act and Serious Crime Act (CSE).
  • Understanding of national and local strategies relating to Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking, Organised Immigration Crime and Child Sexual Exploitation.
  • Awareness of current issues and trends affecting exploitation and serious organised crime.
  • Supervising and developing staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Public speaking and training delivery.
  • Assessing risk and ensuring safeguarding responses for vulnerable victims.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Producing clear reports and summarising complex intelligence into accurate conclusions.
  • Managing workload, prioritising competing demands and meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience of supervising or managing staff in an investigative or safeguarding environment.
  • Experience of building partnerships with national/international agencies (e.g. Home Office, NCA, Europol, NGOs).
  • Experience delivering structured training packages.
  • Experience handling intelligence, conducting research and identifying emerging crime trends.
  • Experience using police and intelligence systems (e.g. CONNECT, CRIS, PNC, LEDS, Sienna, ANPR).
  • Full UK driving license is essential for this role.
