Salary: The starting salary is £36,228 which includes allowances totalling £3,009

The salary is broken down as £33,219 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £35,541 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) is part of the Digital & Innovation Business Group and reports to the Chief Digital & Innovation Officer.

Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT)

The mission of Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) is to provide the Met with information (and specifically data), communications and technology to help frontline officers and Met staff do their jobs more efficiently, to deliver the New Met for London plan. In other words, DDaT is about “passionately delivering trusted technology for precise data driven policing”.

As well as keeping up to speed with developments in technology and making recommendations for new equipment and systems that will help modernise policing, DDaT also comprises the Data Office which:

  • Owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda.
  • Brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas.
  • Consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services.
  • Enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners.

Job Purpose

  • To provide technical and analytical support to the Saved Search Coordinator in maintaining and enhancing CONNECT Saved Search and Export functionality.
  • The role configures and tests search templates, troubleshoots system issues, and supports training and communications activities to ensure Met staff can access accurate, relevant, and timely information to support operational decision-making.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain saved search and export templates within CONNECT, using JSON, JavaScript and HTML to ensure accurate and efficient information retrieval for operational teams.
  • Assist the Saved Search Coordinator in testing and implementing enhancements to CONNECT search capabilities, providing technical input to improve data accuracy and system performance.
  • Analyse search performance data to identify inefficiencies and recommend optimisation actions to improve search speed and relevance for users.
  • Respond to complex saved search and reporting queries received through the team mailbox and ServiceNow, resolving issues promptly to maintain service continuity.
  • Support the delivery of user training and knowledge-sharing sessions on saved search creation and management, ensuring materials are accurate and inclusive of Met business areas such as the Data Office and Counter Terrorism.
  • Carry out routine configuration housekeeping and validation activities to ensure system data integrity and reduce redundant search records.
  • Assist the Saved Search Coordinator in managing incoming requests for new or amended search configurations, prioritising and tracking requests to support timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of guidance materials and communications on the Reporting and Data Extraction Hub, ensuring users receive clear updates on system enhancements and changes.
  • Prepare and maintain scheduled CONNECT reports and exports (for example, Daily Crime Digest, Overnight Remands, Custody Management Reports) to meet statutory and operational requirements.
  • Support major events by developing and testing dedicated searches and reports such as Notting Hill Carnival to enable accurate real-time data access for operational command.
  • Work collaboratively with the Saved Search Coordinator and Configuration Team to identify process improvements and embed standard operating procedures for search governance and data accuracy.
  • Promote inclusive behaviours and collaborative working practices to support a learning culture within the CONNECT Product Unit.

Hybrid Working available in line with the Metropolitan Police Service hybrid working policy.

Working Pattern

The role requires that you attend the Newlands Park office 3-days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the core hours of 10:00 to 16:00.

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.
