Head of Information Assurance

The purpose of the role is to ensure that North Wales Police is appropriately safeguarding personal data and that it is handling all information securely and in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and NPCC Information Systems Community Security Policy. The role involves overseeing a large team delivering a broad remit but also requires having impact and influence over all North Wales Police employee’s behaviour when it comes to handling information.  

Minimum criteria for the role:

  • Evidence an understanding and implementing compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and organisational Information Security policies/procedures.
  • Evidence of dealing with and making decisions regarding strategic issues in respect of Information and cyber security and Data Protection.
  • Evidence of proving specialist advice to Senior Officers regarding Information Assurance including, Information and Cyber Security and Data Protection.
  • Evidence of managing a range of specialist staff including finance responsibilities.
  • Evidence an understanding of being a Systems Accreditor for the organisations IT systems.
  • Evidence of representing the Force at National and Regional meetings.
  • Experience of Chairing Senior meetings and strategic boards.
  • Evidence of writing strategic organisational policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of the strategic management and coordination of information security and personal data breaches.
  • Evidence of providing advice in relation to information sharing arrangements with third parties and associated assurance activities.
