Job Title: Risk and Assurance Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £48,995 which includes allowances totalling £3,009

The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Across London (Hendon, Sidcup, Victoria Embankment)

 

The performance function within Learning & Development has the remit of delivering Performance, Risk and Insight across the MPS. The unit reports to the Head of Performance and Assurance delivering analytical support across the organisation; in support of the delivering of learning and development across the Met for officers and staff supporting the commitment to make the MPS a data driven organisation.

The L&D Performance & Assurance team currently covers the following areas:

  • Delivery Services (academies) analytical and risk support
  • Leadership (FLLP, MLLP and SLP) analytical and risk support
  • Learning Solutions (business engagement, technology and catalogue) analytical and risk support
  • Strategy & Performance (people, performance and risk) analytical support

The Role

As Risk and Assurance Manager, you will:

  • Help build a strong Learning & Development directorate to drive and build high standards of risk management.
  • Forge strong links across the directorate through the academies and pillar, developing a deep understanding delivery challenges.
  • Work closely with the central risk team to ensure timely and appropriate corporate decisions.
  • Support the management and control of corporate and business group risk through assurance and internal audit activities, collaborating with senior leaders and supporting the directorate.
  • Set and communicate standards for risk management and assurance across the directorate.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to inform scrutiny, develop best practice, and support improvements.
  • Draft and contribute to papers for senior governance forums, including Senior Leadership meetings and Directors Risk and Performance packs.
  • Provide additional support across the Performance and Assurance team as needed.

Main Duties

  • Lead and support risk management and assurance activities to manage risk.
  • Develop and communicate risk management standards.
  • Build relationships across the organisation and with external partners.
  • Draft clear, evidence-based papers for senior decision-making forums.
  • Conduct research and horizon-scanning to inform risk management and assurance.
  • Support the team with additional tasks during periods of high demand.
