We are now actively seeking applications from qualified ARV Officers with a diverse range of backgrounds, experience and knowledge bases to join the North Yorkshire Police.
The locations of the postings are Tadcaster Police Station and Thirsk Police Station. The posts operate under the Specialist Operations Directorate.

What we are looking for:
To apply you need to be currently trained to the national standard and accredited as an ARV Officer, which means only Home Office Police Constables can apply.
Essential Criteria:
- Operationally and occupationally competent (on-line) as Armed Response Vehicle Officer
- Can demonstrate knowledge of policies and guidelines relating to the police use of firearms
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced Driver including being currently an Initial Phase Pursuit Trained Officer.
Desirable Skills:
- Specialist Firearms Skill (Tactical Rifle, Close Protection, Working at Heights, Shotgun)
- Operational Firearms Commander
- Tactical Phase Pursuit Training
In addition, at the time of application submission candidates must be able to confirm;
- They are not subject to formal action plans for sickness/complaints/discipline or poor performance
- A Satisfactory rating, or above, was achieved on the last reporting year PDR
- All mandatory training is up to date.

Conditions of Application

- Attendance and successful completion of a role specific selection assessment procedure.
- To be physically and medically able to pass all assessments, Including nationally agreed eyesight, hearing and fitness standards.
