Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Drugs Examination Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual who will support the Drugs Unit in delivering a comprehensive drug analysis service across the North West region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine a range of Drugs of abuse using approved methods whilst maintaining the integrity and continuity of recovered items. Produce accurate contemporaneous case notes to assist in Police investigations.
- Demonstrate an awareness of current and emerging drug related legislation including Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Misuse of Drugs Regulations (including amendments and additions) and associated legislation.
- Provide advice, guidance and operational support on matters relating to Drugs Analysis and Examination when required.
- Assist with the delivery of internal and external forensic drug awareness training for Police Staff, Police Officers and student to ensure high professional standards and support their effective deployment.
- Prepare factual statements and give evidence in court when required.

Skills and Experience:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal and must be able to work with colleagues and members of other agencies.
- Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive/illicit material.
- Experience of producing accurate written information that demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training to maintain accreditation and to develop self within the role.
