Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a motivated, analytical and highly professional Financial Investigator to join our Economic Crime Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in identifying, investigating and recovering criminal assets, ensuring that crime does not pay. Working alongside investigators, prosecutors and partner agencies, you will support complex investigations into financial crime, money laundering, fraud and organised criminality, using financial intelligence and legislative powers to pursue illicit funds and assets.
This post is temporary until the 30th June 2027 (subject to review).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct money laundering investigations, identify and confiscate the proceeds of criminal activities held by organised crime groups and other criminals. This will include the compilation of evidential statements for the presentation at Crown/ Magistrates Court. Investigations will include criminal and civil, requiring suspect interviews, custody processing and exercise of police delegated powers
- Obtain relevant Crown Court orders using appropriate legislation to conduct money laundering investigations and to assist in the identification, restrain and confiscation of criminal assets.
- Conduct civil crypto and cash seizure / AFO / listed asset applications at the magistrates Court using the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
- To expeditiously progress suspicious activity reports and consent issues disseminated by NCA. As part of this process, maintain confidential liaison with banks building societies, other financial institutions and businesses within the regulated sector and credit referencing agencies to effectively progress financial investigations and restrain assets.

Skills and Experience: (Use from the job specification if necessary)
- To undertake the Personal Development Portfolio of evidence for the Financial Intelligence Officer role and Financial Investigator role within the relevant timescales and become accredited within 24 months of commencing in role.
- Must hold a PIP1 qualification or be willing to work towards and complete the portfolio within 12 months of completion of course.
- Must attend the Confiscation Course and complete relevant Personal Development Portfolios for sign off by the NCA
- Must attend the CRiSP course and complete the relevant portfolios of evidence for sign off by the NCA
- Experience of conducting or supporting financial investigations.
- Experience of submitting reports/ files of evidence through to CPS /Courts.
Vetting and Medical:
Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management Vetting (MV). Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
