- S26-333 SOUTH Preston Evidence Related Officer (LC4 - LC5)

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a motivated individual to join our team. In this role, you will manage all Evidence Related Property (ERP), including items requiring long-term retention and those classified as high-risk or high-value, ensuring adherence to Force policies and procedures and providing support to Criminal Justice processes where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To ensure that all Evidence Related Property (ERP) is transported, processed and stored in an appropriate, safe and secure manner, in accordance with the force policy and procedures, particularly those classified as high risk items i.e. hazardous substances, weapons, firearms, ammunition, cash & drugs.
  • Support the ERP Team leader in dealing with Health and Safety issues, including risk assessments, manual handling; COSHH; and drugs, handling of firearms, ammunition, and bladed weapons; waste disposal.
  • Demonstrate safe manual handling of ERP items being transferred in and out and relocated within the ERP store.
  • Demonstrate safe handling of exhibits, managing the risks associated with the potential for exposure to hazardous substances.
  • To ensure that procedures are complied with and ensure a robust audit trail of property management is maintained for all items of ERP at all stages of the investigation process to deliver an efficient property management service and minimise risk to the reputation of the organisation, damage to prosecution cases and compensation claims.

Skills and Experience: 

  • Candidates must possess the IOSH Managing Safely Course or be willing to work towards within 12 months of appointment
  • Experience of inputting, updating and maintaining computerised and manual filing/recording systems.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public and working in partnership with other departments and agencies.
  • Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload.
  • Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality, using tact and diplomacy where applicable.

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
