- S26-222 Police Investigation Officer - MCRT (LC7)

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Police Investigation Officer within the Major Crime Review Team, based at Leyland, to join our team. 

The Major Crime Review Team (MCRT) have responsibility for investigating “cold case” undetected homicides. You will be part of a team conducting serious complex investigations including going out to obtain witness testimony, suspect interviews, reviewing previous investigations, forensic review and managing your own workload. You will need experience of working in a busy Major Incident Room and using HOLMES.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To ethically conduct investigations into cold cases including homicides and other serious and complex crimes.
  • To conduct serious and complex investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain OIC responsibility.
  • To secure, preserve and gather evidence to support law enforcement objectives.
  • To undertake tasks accordingly with accredited powers.
  • To plan, prepare and be involved in the execution of operations.

Role requirements: 

  • PIP Level 2 trained and accredited
  • Full UK Manual driving license 

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

The successful candidate will be required to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week.

Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
