Lancashire Constabulary is looking for Evidence Related Property (ERP) Officers to join our team.
ERP officers are responsible for the management of all Evidence Related Property (ERP) that have been seized during a criminal investigation that may be required as evidence in trials at court.
It is the ERP officer’s duty to ensure that all evidence is transported, processed and stored in an appropriate, safe and secure manner as well as being labelled and packaged correctly and that a robust audit trail is maintained using the Constabulary’s ICT systems to record the booking in and movement of items that may have to be transported to specialist departments such as Scientific Support.
It is important that the successful candidate can work both independently and as part of a team, providing specialist advice and guidance where appropriate to staff, police officers and other departments in relation to the storage, retention and disposal of property and also deal with ERP related enquires from police officers, police staff, other departments, external agencies and members of the public both in writing and telephone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the ERP Team leader in dealing with Health and Safety issues, including risk assessments, manual handling; COSHH; and drugs, handling of firearms, ammunition, and bladed weapons; waste disposal.
- Demonstrate safe manual handling of ERP items being transferred in and out and relocated within the ERP store.
- Demonstrate safe handling of exhibits, managing the risks associated with the potential for exposure to hazardous substances.
- Contribute to the development of efficient corporate systems and processes in relation to ERP procedures.

Skills and Experience:
- Possess or be willing to work towards the IOSH Managing Safely course within 12 months of appointment
Vetting and Medical:
Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
