- S26-132 Forensic Support Officer (LC4-5)

Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Forensic Support Officer to join our team. 

The purpose of the Forensic Support Officer is to provide the Scientific Support Department with efficient forensic support in a number of key areas, including the receipt, quality assurance and management of forensic exhibits for forensic examination by internal and external units. 

The successful candidate will work as part of a small team based in the Forensic Operations Unit.

This role requires a broad spectrum of responsibilities.  The post holder will be required to multi-task and manage their workload effectively.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To provide a range of administrative support to all units within the Scientific Support Department including the Senior and Departmental Management Team.
  • To deal appropriately with visitors, outside agencies, members of the Constabulary and members of the public in person and by telephone.
  • To liaise effectively with internal and external departments and organisations including but not limited to SSD Units and management, Quality Team, Crime Scene Investigators, transport and ERP departments and external forensic agencies.
  • To receive and route forensic submissions to the relevant internal or external forensic unit in line with International Standards, the Forensic Science Regulator Statutory Code of Practice and Force Policies. This may include forensic submissions from other forces, agencies and organisations if / when required.

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
