 Applications are invited from substantive Superintendents or Chief Inspectors seeking promotion, for several key leadership roles within North Yorkshire Police.

 We are seeking highly capable, strategically minded and operationally credible leaders with a demonstrable record of enhancing organisational performance and delivering exemplary services to the public. Candidates should possess broad experience at Superintendent or Chief Inspector level across a range of operational and organisational functions.

You will be an accomplished senior leader with a strong commitment to developing, motivating and inspiring teams, while promoting wellbeing, professionalism and the highest standards of conduct. You will demonstrate emotional intelligence, inclusive leadership and the ability to instil confidence, uphold professional values and act as a catalyst for meaningful organisational improvement.

As a Superintendent you will-

  • Provide ethical, values‑based leadership, acting with professionalism, integrity and accountability to uphold the law, protect the public and promote exemplary standards across all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain strategic operational command, leading responses to major incidents and complex investigations, setting clear tactical direction, managing risk and ensuring effective, legally compliant outcomes.
  • Build and influence strong partnerships with local, regional and national stakeholders to prevent crime, safeguard vulnerable people and improve community outcomes.
  • Lead organisational change, contributing to the development of policy and strategy, driving continuous improvement and enhancing overall force performance.
  • Lead, develop and motivate teams, fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment focused on wellbeing, professionalism and high performance, whilst supporting ongoing development and talent progression.
  • Oversee resources and future demand, ensuring effective workforce planning, sound financial management and efficient allocation of resources to meet current and emerging priorities.
