We are looking for partnership safeguarding officers to contribute to the prevention and disruption of modern slavery, human trafficking, organised immigration crime and child sexual exploitation by supporting partnership engagement, training delivery and supporting the Intelligence flow to the Modern Slavery investigation teams. The successful candidate will process, quality assure and escalate National Referral Mechanism (NRM) cases, liaising with partners to safeguard victims and strengthen investigations.
Working for the Met doesn’t have to mean patrolling the streets. Just as important as our uniformed officers is our 14,000-strong team of professional and support staff working behind the scenes. It’s these skilled people who provide the organisational capability to police London.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop partnerships with other law enforcement, statutory agencies, NGOs and industry to exchange intelligence and support operational activity, thereby helping disrupt organised crime groups.
  • Contribute to intelligence development by identifying opportunities, collating information, and escalating insights to investigators and partner agencies to target and dismantle organised criminality.
  • Support safeguarding by reviewing and actioning NRM referrals, assessing risk, liaising with Officers in Charge (OICs) and ensuring victims are directed to appropriate services.
  • Assist with training delivery by supporting the design, preparation and facilitation of training packages (e.g., Modern Slavery Investigator’s Course, Hydra training), enabling partner agencies and MPS teams to respond effectively to modern slavery and trafficking.
  • Maintain case records by inputting information onto APMIS, CONNECT and other MPS systems to ensure compliance, audit trail integrity, and contribution to organisational performance measures.
  • Contribute to operational activity by supporting VPT colleagues during disruption and enforcement days, ensuring coordination with external partners and accurate information flow, including liaising with international law enforcement partners.
  • Advocate for the use of tools and systems (e.g., Traffic Jam, ANPR, CSAS, Sienna) to strengthen safeguarding and intelligence outcomes.
  • Promote MPS strategies (e.g., Violence Against Women and Girls) by applying them consistently within casework and partnership activity.

Who we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Immigration Act 1971 (Section 25), Sexual Offences Act and Serious Crime Act.
  • Awareness of national/local strategies on modern slavery, human trafficking and organised immigration crime.
  • Understanding of current issues, trends and risk factors in exploitation and organised criminality.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication, including ability to summarise large data sets and prepare accurate reports.
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships and maintain trust with vulnerable victims and diverse partners.
  • Confidence to present information and contribute to training delivery.
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands, manage workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and MPS systems (CONNECT, CRIS, PNC, LEDS, Sienna, CSAS, ANPR).
  • Experience of partnership working with external organisations, ideally in law enforcement, safeguarding, or victim support.
  • Experience of handling sensitive intelligence or casework and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Experience of working in an environment that manages risk and supports safeguarding outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Full UK driving license is essential for this role.

Benefits:

You’ll enjoy the kind of great benefits that you’d expect from one of London's largest employers.

These include:

  • Annual leave entitlement of 28 days plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service
  • Civil service pension arrangements
  • Interest free season ticket loans
  • Membership of Met sports and social clubs
