Job Title: Lead Digital Learning & Immersive Experience Designer

Salary: The starting salary is £63,409, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 allowance.

The salary is broken down as £60,400 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £65,886. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Hendon, Westminster, Sidcup

 

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week on-site across either of the three locations

Purpose: To support the ongoing demand for MPS learning products, e-learn - Virtual reality, hydra, immersive programme design and wider L&D delivery requirements including Leadership academy .

Role Summary

This senior role leads the design and delivery of immersive, digital and blended learning content across the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). It ensures architectural and technical compatibility with the LMS and oversees the strategic development and management of the Met's digital and virtual reality (VR) learning capability.

The postholder will ensure learning interventions drive knowledge retention, improve learner outcomes, and are fit for purpose across a range of high-risk and complex learning need. This includes leading the design, development, and deployment of digital content, managing the content catalogue, and developing design guidance to ensure quality and consistency.

The role also oversees the build of the virtual and immersive branch on content design, supporting our Leadership Academy in development and design.

Key Result Areas

  • Development of internal Immersive resourcing, capability build and deployment.
  • Act as designer and project lead for content creation initiatives, including authoring design proposals and recommending build options (internal or external).
  • Lead end-to-end lifecycle of content development: design, build, test, deploy, and review.
  • Evaluate internal capabilities against commercial solutions to determine the most appropriate and efficient content build route.
  • Modernise and rebrand existing content and learning pathways for consistency and professional standards.
  • Embed operational and community relevance by leading the integration of SME operational subject matter experts within the development process.
  • Provide organisational assurance by aligning content creation with governance, risk and compliance expectations.
  • Own and manage content development budgets, team workflows, and project timelines.
  • Lead a team of immersive, creative, technical and non-technical professionals to deliver innovative digital learning experiences.
