Salary & Benefits
During Training
- £28,071 per year
Post Training
- Salary increases through annual increments within the pay scale.
Full-time shift pattern
- Including shift allowance and weekend enhancements, earnings can reach approximately £37,577 - £43,655 per year
Part-time late shift pattern
- Including applicable enhancements, earnings can reach approximately £16,495 - £19,164 per year
Please note that monthly earnings may vary depending on the number of weekends worked.
Start Dates
Successful applicants will join one of the following intakes (Dates are subject to change)
- January 2027 Intake: Monday 25th January 2027
- March 2027 Intake: Monday 15th March 2027
Training & Development
You'll receive ongoing support from experienced trainers, coaches and colleagues throughout your training, helping you develop the knowledge and skills needed to perform confidently in the role.
As part of the role, you'll complete a Level 3 Emergency Contact Handler Apprenticeship, gaining a nationally recognised qualification while developing valuable operational experience.
Please note: Annual leave cannot be taken during the first 14 weeks of employment due to the intensive nature of the training programme.
Training periods:
- January 2027 Intake: 25 January to 23 April 2027
- March 2027 Intake: 15 March to 25 June 2027

- Passionate about public service
- Calm under pressure and able to multitask
- Experienced in customer service, either over the phone or face-to-face
- Confident using computers and technology
Shift Working
Our Force Control Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so flexibility to work shifts is essential. Example shift patterns can be found in the attached documents.

- Assessment Centre: 13th - 15th October 2026
- Interviews: w/c 26th October 2026
March 2027 Intake
- Assessment Centre: 10th - 12th November 2026
- Interviews: w/c 23rd November 2026
