We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Conference and referral officer in our safeguarding conference and referral team. Could you be who we are looking for?

The conference and referral team is currently based at Cockett police station Swansea, however the successful applicant may be required to travel around the force.

About the role and your key responsibilities :

To work in Partnership with responsible organisations to ensure the safeguarding of vulnerable persons. To represent the force at all forms of safeguarding meetings and share information within the context of the law. This will include the officer attending strategy discussions and meetings with partner agencies where concerns are raised in relation to the care and safety of a child or adult at risk. To attend Child Protection Conference meetings with partner agencies and when required research police systems prior to attendance. At Child Protection Conferences discuss and provide a professional view as to the most appropriate course of action, making a decision on behalf of South Wales Police with other agencies as to whether children’s names will be placed on the Child Protection Register and agree a plan.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

Essential

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to produce clear and concise reports
  • Able to represent the force at case conferences and forums involving partners and other law enforcement agencies 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of statutory / NPCC guidance, approved professional practice and local safeguarding procedures
  • Welsh Language Level 2 - Can understand the essence of a conversation in Welsh, and can convey basic information and respond to simple requests in Welsh. Can use Welsh to transfer telephone calls. Can introduce oneself and others by name, role, and location/organisation. Can contribute in a meeting partly in Welsh.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
