Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital function within Met Intelligence of the Metropolitan Police.
The Application & Officer 365 developer will enhance and maintain bespoke software applications and digital tools that enable effective data management, automation, and reporting for ANPR operations. The role holder is responsible for ensuring data compliance and security by developing systems and processes that meet governance standards, data protection regulations, and organisational audit requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement bespoke software applications and data management tools to support operational policing objectives and improve automation across ANPR systems, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced manual workloads.
- Deploy and optimise Microsoft Office 365 functions including Power Apps, Power Automate and SharePoint - to deliver efficient, scalable solutions that optimise intelligence processes and support operational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain the ANPR Tasking Application by gathering user requirements and improving tracking and compliance functionality, ensuring data integrity and effective task monitoring.
- Manage operational deployment of portable ANPR devices by maintaining accurate records, monitoring utilisation, and coordinating repairs or replacements to maintain service readiness.
- Create, maintain and improve T-SQL and SSRS reports to provide actionable insights and support strategic and tactical decision-making across ANPR operations.
- Ensure data compliance and security by developing systems and processes that meet governance standards, data protection regulations, and organisational audit requirements.
Essential Experience:
Experience
- Experience of developing software applications using one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, SQL or JavaScript.
- Experience of creating automated workflows, applications or reporting solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
- Experience of working with relational databases and ETL processes.
- Experience of delivering technical solutions within a policing, public sector, defence, intelligence or other operational environment.
- Experience of using, administering or supporting ANPR systems or similar intelligence systems is desirable.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of programming languages including Python, Java, C#, SQL and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) processes and relational database management.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
- Knowledge of data management, information governance and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of ANPR systems and applications, including ANPReS is desirable.
Skills
- Ability to design, develop and maintain software applications and automated solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex datasets to produce technical solutions, reports and insights.
- Ability to troubleshoot, investigate and resolve technical issues using a structured approach.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple development activities, prioritising workloads to meet agreed deadlines.
