Background to the Role

Met Business Services (MBS) is a new way for the Met to deliver enabling services to all of our officers and staff. MBS is a front-line focused services organisation that sets our people up to succeed, reduces admin, delivers modern user-centric end-to-end solutions and provides a single source of truth for all HR, Finance and Commercial data — a critical cornerstone in fixing our foundations.

MBS will help every person and supplier working with the Met by:

  • Building a modern and efficient business services directorate, strengthening Finance, Commercial, and Analytics capabilities while removing functional silos.
  • Designing services around user needs and integrating them seamlessly, regardless of how they’re delivered.
  • Providing intuitive, one-touch services that leverage technologies like Oracle Cloud, low-code tools, automation, and modern analytics.
  • As part of this transformation, we are establishing a new Analytics and AI capability that will enable evidence-based decision-making across MBS and beyond. We are now seeking Analytics & AI Lead to own and grow our analytics and reporting capability, enabling data-led strategy, operational insight, and performance management.
  • This is an exciting time to join MBS and be at the heart of delivering “More Trust, Less Crime, High Standards”. You'll work across multiple directorates, influencing strategic decision-making and supporting front-line services with impactful data insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and continual improvement of the MPS analytics products, with a focus on Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) / Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence.
  • Own the product roadmap for analytics, AI and Machine Learning aligning with the Head of Product and peers in Finance, HR, Logistics, Operations and Commercial teams.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of reporting SMEs and analysts, fostering a culture of evidence-based delivery and user-focused design.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their analytical needs, translating these into dashboards, reports, and automated solutions.
  • Champion a culture of data governance, literacy, and evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
  • Analyse user feedback and data to uncover pain points, improve decision-making tools, and maximise the value of our data assets.
  • Design and optimise cloud-based integrations to connect data across systems and services.
  • Support operational change including test planning, user training, and change impact assessments.
  • Present technical and strategic proposals to the Head of Product, outlining value, feasibility and cost-benefit cases.
  • Drive data literacy across teams and develop reusable frameworks and patterns for analytics delivery.
  • Drive an increase in productivity, better decision-making, improved customer experiences, and reduced operational costs.

Experience

  • 5+ years in analytics, business intelligence, or data product roles, ideally within large or complex environments.
  • Proven experience in implementing and delivering business solutions using Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) / Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence.
  • Experience working with Oracle ERP/HCM Cloud or eBusiness Suite, with a strong understanding of functional areas such as HR, Commercial, Finance and Logistics.
  • Practical experience with ETL, data modelling, and dashboard/reporting development.
  • Experience in leading product teams or data-focused project teams, with stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of integration technologies and data pipelines (e.g. Oracle Integration Cloud, APIs).
  • Public sector or shared services experience (desirable).

  • Familiar with distributed version control systems and modern analytics delivery workflows.
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills; able to make complex insights accessible to non-technical audiences.
