District Detective Constable

We know that where you work is important to you, as part of the transferee process, we will work with you to allocate you a district that keeps your travelling to a minimum and supports your work life balance.

Specialist Detective Constable

We’re also recruiting directly into Public Protection & Serious Crime Division and other specialist branches, including Professional Standards Directorate, Overt, and the Anti-Corruption Unit. Applications are especially welcome from officers with Advanced Driving or Surveillance Accreditations.

Public Protection Department –

• Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT)
• Sexual Offender Management Unit (SOMU)
• Child Sexual Exploitation – Major Investigation Team (CSE MIT)


Serious Crime Department –

• Serious and Organised Crime Group (SOCG)
• Economic and Cyber Crime Unit (ECCU)
• Major Investigation Team (MIT)


If you’re currently in a specialist post and considering a transfer, you can move laterally into equivalent teams within GMP. All applicants will be interviewed by a Detective Management Team to match your skills and experience to the right role.
