Salary: £53,180 plus £6,710 London Weighting Allowance, plus £200 London Weighting Supplement

Vetting level required: MV/SC then DV to be undertaken once in role if not already held

About the team

You will be part of a wider management team looking after victim reporting, victim care and intelligence led by the Head of Victim Services

You will manage three analytical teams headed by senior analysts which will include analytical and research staff, responsible to creating thematic analytical products and a national strategic assessment for fraud and cyber-crime. Each thematic team will have responsibility for different fraud and cyber-crime typologies, working to support national policing and other law enforcement stakeholders and industry partners in assessing and analysing the current threat picture.

You will also be responsible for recruiting and tasking two data scientists who will be responsible for creating programmes and tooling to assist analysts and researchers in extracting data. You will foster close working relationships with the forces data lab capabilities and work closely with this team to expand and shape data science provision.

About the role

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering world class analytical products to support and direct law enforcement activity across the UK and Internationally. They will represent the interests of the Report Fraud teams at international fora, ensuring the quality and suitability of the Intelligence products produced.

They will build and maintain a National Intelligence Model Compliant capability for National Policing at Level 2 ensuring all staff are Intelligence Professionalisation Programme compliant. They will develop a working data science provision within the Report Fraud Intelligence environment.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Support to Report Fraud leadership team as a lead subject matter expert (SME) for the intelligence function within national fraud and cybercrime in policing through the participation in workshops, working groups, creation and review of documentation and process maps, and assessment of materials to assist and ensure successful delivery of Report Fraud.
  • To attend and participate in regular meetings representing the NLF intelligence function as an SME and providing business input, materials and review where necessary.
  • To co-ordinate and support stakeholder engagement, specific to the intelligence function in support of Report Fraud.
  • To provide regular, consolidated updates to NLF Leadership Team, and take direction to implement changes, reflect and promote NLF and policing priorities at a strategic level.
  • To represent the NLF Leadership Team at project boards and other governance meetings as required.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

  • an analytical environment, to include management of analysts, researchers and data scientists.
  • delivering effective joint working involving multiple organisations and stakeholders.
  • overseeing the production and quality of reports at a strategic level.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role at level 2 of the Competency and Values Framework.
