We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Fraud & Financial Investigator in our Economic Crime Team. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

The Economic Crime Unit investigates the most complex, significant and high-profile cases of financial crime within South Wales, working in partnership with local, national and international forces, counter fraud agencies and public and private sector bodies. 

  • We operate the Smarter Working Policy with a mix of office and agile working. Our core hours are daytime hours Monday - Friday.

 

About the role and your key responsibilities:

 

  • The role involves a combination of teamwork and dedicated casework, supporting both criminal and civil financial investigations.
  • You will gather information and intelligence from a range of sources to identify a suspect’s method of offending and benefit from criminality.
  • You will be required to prepare detailed case papers and robust investigative applications to the Courts and present oral evidence if required.
  • This specialist role offers the opportunity to work in partnership with national and international law enforcement agencies as well as public and private sector fraud specialists.
  • The post holder will undertake a funded training with the NCA & City of London Police to gain nationally recognised accreditations in Financial & Fraud Investigation. Your development will be supported by an experienced colleague and mentoring programme.

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

 

  • We are keen to hear from individuals with a background in financial investigations. Financial Investigation/ Financial intelligence Officer accreditation is desirable.
  • We are looking for inquisitive individuals with excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

 

Please be aware that if your current post is within the Public Service Centre, if you were employed after 1st February 2017 you must have completed 2 years’ tenured service before applying for any other roles.

(There may be further opportunities within the ECU and if you are successful at the interview stage but are not provided with the advertised role you may be suitable for a select list and will be considered for future posts within 6 months of your interview)
