Intelligence Development and Assessment Officer

 To carry out intelligence assessment and development work in order to identify vulnerabilities, safeguarding opportunities and reduce the risk of harm to Wales’s communities from Terrorism and Violent Extremism.

To receive and assess new information and intelligence under the agreed assessment process and identify and develop intelligence opportunities by identifying intelligence gaps and tasking appropriate assets, to build the intelligence picture.

To support the UK Counter Terrorism Network through the effective co-ordination of CTP Wales activity as tasked in support of the UK’s Counter-Terrorist Strategy, the National Police Counter Terrorism and Extremism Control Strategy and Regional Control Strategy in order to deter, detect and disrupt acts of terrorism and extremism.

Manage, handle and assess all information and intelligence, including confidential information and secret / sensitive intelligence, to identify threat and risk levels including determining whether it is developed, disseminated, disposed or stored. To quality assure all intelligence, received or developed, to ensure it meets accepted quality standards including sanitization, grading and handling, GPMS markings.

This role is not suitable for part time/job share workers due to operational requirements.

If you are currently involved in a PSD Investigation then you will not be eligible to apply for this role.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC/DV Vetting.

The post will also require the successful completion of an additional security induction process, part of which requires pre-screening checks of nationality and foreign connections. It must be stressed that this is in addition to Developed Vetting or force management vetting. Candidates must achieve both clearances to take up this post.
