About the team/Department you will be joining:
The Forensic Collision Investigation Unit (FCIU) is a collaborative venture between South Wales Police and Gwent Police within the Joint Scientific Investigation Unit. As part of an ongoing project under the Forensic Alliance Wales Programme, work is being undertaken to collaborate with Dyfed Powys Police FCIU to create a wider team.
The Forensic Collision Investigation Unit is responsible for providing the forensic response to the most serious of collisions on our roads to find the answers as to why that crash happened and subsequently provide an expert opinion to Victims and their families, HM Coroner, Criminal Justice System and wider judiciary.
The Forensic Collision Investigation Unit is currently striving to achieve compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice including International Standards Organisation (ISO) accreditation.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for implementing, overseeing and managing compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators code and the ISO accreditation process
You will work closely with the respective Forensic Collision Investigation units for South Wales, Gwent, Dyfed Powys Police and wider quality teams working within the existing quality management structures
As part of your role, you will also be required to consult with the Forensic Collision Investigation Network (FCIN) and office of the Forensic Science Regulator to ensure that we meet our national responsibilities in relation to compliance and accreditation.
Location: Bridgend. The successful candidate will also be expected to attend the relevant FCIU bases currently situated in Ystrad Mynach and Carmarthen as part of the role.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
We are looking for someone who has a working knowledge of the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and ISO standards 17020 and 17025 and experience of working within a Quality Management Structure
Previous knowledge or experience of Forensic Collision Investigation would be beneficial but not essential.
